07. February 2017: Exactly 10 years ago the European Kalmia Society was founded. A major aim is it, to make this interesting genus more popular.
In this decade we registered about 53 cultivars, most of them new breeding. We like to thank everybody who is interested in our work and is attending and supporting it.
January 2017: The following Kalmia cultivars were registered in 2016:
  • Black Eye
  • Deep Secret
  • Merlin
  • June 2016: Stöckmann Nursery sells from now on also to private clients.
    January 2016: The species Leiophyllum buxifolium und Loiseleuria procumbens are now recognised as species of Kalmia and are named

    January 2015: The following Kalmia cultivar was registered in 2014:

  • May 2014: The following Kalmia cultivars are awarded with Oldenburger Zertifikat:

  • January 2014: The following Kalmia cultivars were registered in 2013:

  • Jans Delight
  • Muras
  • Latchmin

  • October 2013: At its meeting in Beijing in July the Executive Committee of the ISHS Commission for Nomenclature and Cultivar Registration approved the appointment of the European Kalmia Society as the ICRA for Kalmia. This is now a full appointment.
    January 2013: The following Kalmia cultivars were registered in 2012:
  • Bumblebee
  • Queen of Hearts
  • Sparkler
  • September 2012: Actually we know about 170 Kalmia cultivars. And of these 125 are already registered. From each Japan, Belgium and New Zealand is one cultivar, from Germany 36 and 123 are originated in the USA.

  • August 2008: The promotion of Kalmia latifolia hybrids in Europe will be successfully continued. The German cultivars 'Midnight' and 'Moyland' were given to the Arboretum Mustila in Finland. Here they will be tested on cold hardiness. They were relocated in the North American area next to a plantation of Kalmia angustifolia.
    June 2008: The following Kalmia cultivars were registered in 2007:

  • 11. March 2008: The ISHS (International Society for Horticultural Science) Commission approved the appointment oft the European Kalmia Society as ICRA (International Cultivar Registration Authorities) for Kalmia at its meeting in Wageningen (NL) October 2007.

    8 February 2007: The European Kalmia Society was founded on the date of 07.02.2007 in the city of Bremen.
